Magnum Submits ICC-ES Application
After more than two years and a significant financial investment, Magnum Piering is proud to announce the company submitted its ICC Evaluation Report Application on August 17th to the ICC-ES headquarters in Whittier, CA. (www.icc-es.org)
Project manager and Magnum director of engineering, Dr. Howard Perko spearheaded the project. "This was a team effort that required considerable time and effort from many of our employees and a third party testing laboratory," Perko said. " The requirements of the ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria, AC358 (ICC-ES 358) are significant in both scope and depth with field testing for 3 different soil classifications combined with destructive laboratory testing and quantities of structural engineering calculations," he added.
"We have been told the evaluation and approval process will take several months to complete under the assumption that our application is complete and accurate," said Magnum Vice President Bill Bonekemper. "We may well be the first or one of the first helical pile manufacturers to make the application submission for the new AC358 acceptance criteria. We have had many, many inquiries from engineers and building officials over the last 6 months or so about the status of our application. We believe this important new standard for our industry is highly anticipated and very much needed," Bonekemper added.
