MRI Facility
An existing parking garage in Columbus, Ohio was renovated into an MRI medical research facility. Phillips Construction served as General Contractor, and Howard A. Perko, Ph.D., P.E. (Secure Engineer, Fort Collins, Colorado) was the Engineer of Record.
Description
The Challenge
The renovation required new structural support for MRI equipment within an existing structure. The project needed both foundation elements and anchoring to stabilize and support the facility during conversion.
The Solution
Dwyer Companies designed, engineered, and installed a combined MAGNUMreg system of helical piles, helical tie-backs, and resistance piers. The installed foundation work included:
- 39 Resistance Piers
- 40 Helical Tie-Backs
- 46 Helical Piles
This integrated approach provided the underpinning and anchoring required to support the MRI equipment and the renovated facility.
Results
The installed MAGNUMreg helical piles, tie-backs, and resistance piers provided the required support for the new MRI equipment as part of the successful renovation to an MRI medical research facility.
