MAGNUM® MMA-818BSPG Beam Splice – Galvanized

Minimal steel erection experience required. These structural steel frames require no welding or hot rivets. Designed to resist hurricane wind loads, they are ideal for elevation of existing or new homes and commercial buildings in flood prone regions. No job is too small; they are perfect for high-end residential or commercial pool shelters, picnic shelters, and outdoor kitchen and living areas. They are galvanized for coastal exposure and a lifetime of service.

The Magnum MMA-818BSP Moment Frame Beam Splice consists of a shorter section of a W8x18 wide flange beam with (2)7/8″ end plate with gussets, one on each end. The gusseted end plates each have (4) 15/16″ bolt holes with longer 7/8″ bolts for bolting thru (2) beam end plates. Standard length is 18 inches. Custom lengths are available.

Installation Notes:

Beam splices are useful when main lifting beams used for home and building elevation will intersect or interfere with completion of moment frame beams. They allow the frame to be erected and the home or building lowered onto the frame prior to splice installation. Brace columns for stability when splices are not in place. The designer should position beam splices approximately 1/4 the distance between columns where bending moment is expected to be smallest. Hoist beam splice into place and attach with 7/8″ bolts, lock washers, and heavy hex nuts, provided.
