Description
Making skyscraper building technology affordable for everyone, Magnum® Moment Frames are the “erector set” for residential and light commercial construction. Minimal steel erection experience required. These structural steel frames require no welding or hot rivets. Designed to resist hurricane wind loads, they are ideal for elevation of existing or new homes and commercial buildings in flood prone regions. No job is too small; they are perfect for high-end residential or commercial pool shelters, picnic shelters, and outdoor kitchen and living areas. They are galvanized for coastal exposure and a lifetime of service.
The Magnum MMA-DROP# consists of steel plates attached to (2) Magnum Beam End Plates that are offset to create a drop connection. Drop connections are utilized for slight elevation variances in the existing or planned house framing or other applications deemed necessary by the design professional.
Installation Notes:
Attach connectors to Moment Frame Beams and hoist into place on Moment Frame Columns to accomodate a change in elevation. Note that this requires different Moment Frame Column heights. These connectors can be used in combination with varying wood sill heights to create a variety of drop-down options. For example a 10″ drop could be achieved through the use of (4) 2x sill plates on the higher beam and (2) 2x sill plates on the lower beam with an MMA-DROP7 hanger. A 1″ drop could be achieved using the standard beam-to-column connection with (3) 2x sill plates on the higher beam and (2) 2x with (1) 1/2″ OSB sill plates.
Knee wall framing can be used to increase drop heights.
